Relay Express: About Us
In February 1986, Relay Express was founded by Robert Smith, Mike Bernecker and Matt Seiter. Relay Express believes in people first, whether it's customers, employees or its fleet of independent contractors. This philosophy has established Relay Express as one of the top delivery services in the Tri-State area. Over 18 years, Relay Express has grown substantially to a full-service regional delivery company.
Relay Express takes great pride in our Tri-State community. Relay Express continues to donate its time and money to a variety of local and national causes, including the Arthritis Foundation, SIDS Foundation and many area youth organizations. In the future, Relay Express' philosophy of “people first” will serve our community well, both as a full-service delivery company and as a community member.

The first delivery of Relay Express is made. |

Relay Express increased its revenue over that of 1986 by 400%. |
1988 |
Cutting-edge Technology, our first computer and dispatching software. |
1994 |
Moved the offices to a new location to
expand our services. |
October, 1994 |
Relay Express is voted "Best Courier" by
Cincinnati Magazine. |
1994 |
Joined the MCAA
(Messenger Courier Association of the Americas) |
1995 |
Joined the ACCA
(Air Courier Conference of America) |
1995 |
Opened a second location in Dayton, Ohio. |
1996 |
Joined the ECA
(Express Carriers Association). |
Jan 1998 |
Hired Jim Bernecker as Manager of the
Dayton office. |
2000 |
Jim Bernecker elected to the ECA board of directors |
2004 |
Began to research Franchising as a strategy for expansion. |
2005 |
Hired iFranchise Group, the largest franchising consultant in the country, to help us Franchise Relay Express. |
2006 |
Started selling franchises. |
2007 |
Added Indianapolis and Atlanta franchises |
